Do you tip someone who delivers you flowers?

I was reading an article on tipping and it said to tip a floral delivery person a few dollars. I've never done that. I might not have any cash on hand. Since it's an unexpected delivery and I wasn't the one who ordered them, why would I be expected to tip?

Do you tip someone who delivers you flowers?
I've never heard of tipping a flower delivery person, and I've worked in florist shops before, too.

I also work for a pizza chain, and you DO tip them.

But flowers? Generally NO.

Usually when flowers are delivered, they are delivered as a GIFT to the recipient from someone else. RARELY are flowers DELIVERED to the person who ORDERED them. As such, any "tip" is the onus of the PURCHASER, not the RECIPIENT. How would YOU like to get a gift and then have the person who GAVE you the gift expect a TIP for giving it to you? Same reasoning.

With Pizza delivery people, the people who are receiving the pizzas are generally the ones who ORDERED them, and thus, the tip is on the ORERERS.

Let's switch things around a bit.... A dear friend of yours calls the local Pizza place and says, "My friend, Mary is really SICK today, and I'd like to have a PIZZA delivered to her so she doesn't have to COOK tonight." So, she orders the pizza, gives the delivery instructions, and gives her credit card info to pay for it. Now... do you REALLY think that YOU (being "Mary") should tip the pizza delivery person when YOU didn't ORDER the pizza? It should be your dear friend who, on the phone giving the delivery/payment information that says, "Oh, and please add a $2 tip for the driver when you charge my card!"... RIGHT???

So... generally speaking, flower delivery people are not tipped for this reason.

Have a polite day.
Reply:Yes. You HAVE to tip the florist delivery man. I'm a teen and worked in a florist for 2 years and got paid $5 per hour. We walk to deliver (30 minutes at times) and I really get upset when people don't even tip. You should tip at least a dollar at least. Report It

Reply:depending on the deliverer of the flowers, i usually tip pizza deliver boys who are friendly, always say enjoy your dinner and apologizes even though he;s on time...

and depend on how clean they look, nails and hair, must be free of grase and dirt!
Reply:No, there was a delivey fee added to the bill of the person who sent them.
Reply:If you feel funny give them a buck, if not no worries, unless you get flowers everyday.
Reply:Most places include the tip with the price. So Unless you live in the middle of no where, don't tip.
Reply:You don't need to tip to a flower delivery person, because his/her wage is included in the delivery fee, which is already paid by the person who ordered it. Food delivery guys are different, because their wages depend on the tips, just like waiters/waitresses.

With that said, if you received a flower during a snow storm and the delivery person looked like half-frozen, any tip would be greatly appreciated. :-)
Reply:Naah. ya probly paid them enuf.
Reply:cause it is the right thing to do. only tip 1 dollar or something. it doesn't have to be a lot.
Reply:No. I wouldnt. Chances are they probably charge a ton for the flowers anyway.

Does anyone do this for a living? Do you like it? How much do you get paid? Is it very phsyically demanding?

Floral delivery!?
Delivery is always stressful and challenging, but rewarding. Somebody has to do it...

Do Floral / Florist Delivery people get tips from the person they deliver to? What is the usual tip?

I have never heard of tipping a flower delivery person. Especially, since someone is sending you the flowers as a gift. However, I did research it and found the following website that shows suggested amounts of tips to be given in a variety of situations such as flower deliveries. Its a neat website- check it out. It suggest $2-$5 for a flower tip.

I've never heard of tipping a delivery person. The florist charges the person placing the order a delivery fee, and the driver gets a salary. A few dollars might be a nice gesture, now that you mention it.
Reply:I have been a delivery person for a florist, and tips are not very common. Occasionally, someone has tipped me maybe 1 or 2 dollars, but I always thought that it should not be expected of someone receiving what is usually a gift, and I did feel a little uncomfortable accepting a tip at those times.

Help For Floral Delivery Company Please?

I would like some help on how to deliver flowers on bikes. We have a £100 budget to work with (we already have the bikes.). Could you please give suggestions on whether we should use panniers or bags to carry the flowers. Also, could you give us general suggestions on how we could expand and advice for people who have experience in the field.

firstly start of using a basket of reasonable sixe you can also buy trailers for the back that can have a open area or closed area once you start getting a steady income rent a van you can get really good deals and so on just build up gradually to what you can afford
Reply:Before choosing the method of carriage, consider your target market, their location and the types of flowers they will order. It maybe good to limit their choices. Then think about the most suitable container that can be easily carried, protects the flowers and keeps them fresh. You do not want them to wilt on a hot day. A possibility is a specially constructed tube, may be more expensive than your budget, however this could present opportunities for display, marketing, passing cost through to the client. In regards to expansion think about who you could talk to from your local business groups and consider franchising in the future.
Reply:Will you be able to buy a pannier.Have you tried making a big basket or get a large cardboard box reinforce it %26amp; attach to bike.Flowers are big buisness I prefer flowers in a basket has they need no mucking on with. You will have to try %26amp; find out what local florists are charging %26amp; under cut them. You are going into cut throat buisness %26amp; i wish you good luck %26amp; fortune.

How much are you supposed to tip a floral delivery agent? What if you don't even want the flowers?

I recently had this happen to me. I was being stalked and I did not want to accept flowers from some creepy weirdo. But I appreciate customer service and I did not think it was fair for the delivery guy not to be tipped.. and yet I wasn't sure whether to tip at all? Help..

How much are you supposed to tip a floral delivery agent? What if you don't even want the flowers?
Since you did not request the service, you are not required to tip. The actual patron tips. And it is perfectly acceptable to refuse delivery of the flowers, it will hopefully get the message across a lot quicker.
Reply:you tip 10% and ask him to return them as refused. think of the 10% as a message service
Reply:I would think in this situation, a tip would not be expected. If it is a service you had specifically asked for, then a tip may be appropriate. Since you were not the one ordering the flowers any tip should be the responsibility of the ordering party.

Just FYI- I've never tipped a flower delivery person, UPS driver, etc.
Reply:giving a tip is your choice...

they are paid to deliver flowers anyways...
Reply:Good services today are very much taken for granted. Tipping the flower guy is alright. $1 or 2 Dollars is fair and not enough people do it. I also tip my grocery bagger and anyone else that provides excellent service for me. Service jobs in general get paid miserable but they are SO important to have.

I give my mailman $10 for xmas

I allways prefer giving someone in the service industry before handing it to some bum on the street

Which website is the BEST prices for floral deliveries??

I wouldnt order online. Im a former FTD master florist (well I guess I still am). When you order online they will send it to a local florist but they take 20% of the price. If you find a local florist you will get a better deal. They are suppose to be exactly the same but they are not.

I suggest looking up floral shops in the city you want to send it too and ask them a few questions. Order them directly, it will be better.
