How much SHOULD I be earning an hour?

I work as a Professional Floral Designer. I have a degree in Horticulture and 10+ years work experience. My work experience includes but is not limited to:(this is what I do every day) Designing/arranging fresh cut and silk flowers per customer order; answering phones; waiting on customers; plant care (watering etc); processing fresh cuts when they first come in, cleaning and basic shop up-keep; occasional delivery, some basic computer work; ordering some product from wholesalers (not too often though..) and managing the shop when the boss isn't here...which seems like most of the time......I am her only employee and get $8.10/ hour...am I getting screwed or what? If she gives me a raise, she cuts back the number of hours I work.

Oh, I live in Central NY State....not near the city

How much SHOULD I be earning an hour?
Sounds like you need to find someone else to work for.
Reply:Check around with other local companies and see what the average rate is. Pay rates have an extremly wide range throughout the US and sometimes even inside the states so asking on here will probably not help you all too much. In my opinion it sounds like you should be making more though.
Reply:Sounds like you need to ask for a raise or get a better paying job!
Reply:I wonder why with a college degree and 10 year experience you are only working for $8 an hour. You obviously have the talent, the experience and the knowledge. Why don't you start your own flower business? Yes it will require a lot of hard work and sacrifice. However, do you want to depend on someone else the rest of your life to determine your fate and how much you get paid. I also realize that business start up costs are very expensive, and getting a business loan also requires great credit and collateral.

However, if running your own business is not for you, then you should be the one managing a flower shop. Yes, I agree that you are getting screwed, but you are the one allowing it to happen. Don't blame your boss, because she is simply following labor laws and is more concerned about your paying customers. Take charge of your life and vision yourself being successful. I wish you great success.
Reply:Your degree has nothing to do with your job, you know that right. Our floral shops hire people off the street and then train them. I would say that is good amount of money for someone that works in a retail flower shop.

Where can I find rural mailbox with double doors on it, that is not expensive!?

Looking for a standard-looking rural mail delivery box, that has a back door on it. Friend suggested I try this so I don't have to step into our busy street to get the mail. This way I would open the BACKSIDE of the mailbox to collect the mail. So far I have found 2 links, but they are both for very expensive mailboxes ($200 to $300 range). Does anyone know where I can get one that costs under $100? Serious replies only. Thank you.

PS Here are the two links I have been looking at to give you a better idea:

http://www.steelmailbox.com/ (part way down page): "The Floral Mailbox is available in a Two-Door version which is ideal for those concerned with road safety while retrieving mail. The Double Door offers the option of retrieving mail from the rear instead of having to go into the street."

And here's one on ebay, looks perfect, but too expensive:

Lowe's or HomeDepo
Reply:Try building your own, or have a friend do it for you at a good rate..here are some links to free plans for them..

If no one saw the flowers did they exist?

I spent $170 on a floral spray for a loved relative who's funeral I could not attend. I placed the order with the florist recommended by the funeral home and they seemed very accommodating.

After speaking with most of the relatives who did attend the funeral, nobody recalls seeing these flowers or my card. I called the florist and they later told me they had the receipt and the delivery driver specifically remembers delivering them.

I'm not a wealthy woman and the flowers being there meant a lot to me. I don't want to hurt the florist financially if they did what I paid them to do, but don't I deserve some sort of refund if they didn't?

This is all the information I have, so I have to make a decision based on what I've written. I'm considering filing an investigation request with my credit card company to have the charges reversed.

If no one saw the flowers did they exist?
Those things sometimes get mishandled at the funeral home. You could dispute the charge, but they will offer a signed receipt. The burden of proof is on you, and you have no proof.

No idea need some help please...if you can explain thats great too. THANKS!?

One particularly large ant hill found in 1997 measured 40 inches wide at the base and 18 inches high. Whar was the slope of the ant hill?

For banquets, Flourishing Flowers charges $60 for each standard floral arrangement plus a one time $125 fee for delivery and set up , Write an equation in a slope-intercept form that shows the cost y for flowers for x number of arrangements.

Find an equation in thr slope-intercept form for the line:

slope= 4 , y-intercept = 4

Find an equation in slope - intercept form for the line passing through each pair of points: ( -4, 4) , ( -5, -3)

Find an equation in slope-intercept form for the line passung through each pait of points: (4, 7) , ( 1, 4 )

No idea need some help please...if you can explain thats great too. THANKS!?
One particularly large ant hill found in 1997 measured 40 inches wide at the base and 18 inches high. Whar was the slope of the ant hill?

This sounds like they are wanting you to use Pythagoreans theorem here. So you would do 40 squared + 18 squared = x and then find the square root of x

For banquets, Flourishing Flowers charges $60 for each standard floral arrangement plus a one time $125 fee for delivery and set up , Write an equation in a slope-intercept form that shows the cost y for flowers for x number of arrangements.

y=125+60x If I remember correctly slope-intercept form is y=mx+b, so that form should be correct.

Find an equation in thr slope-intercept form for the line:

slope= 4 , y-intercept = 4

4=4x+b???
Reply:#3. Y=4X + 4

#4. -3-4/-5-(-4); so -7/-1 so 7 is you slope, then slope intercept form is (y-y1)=M(x-x1), choose and pair of points, you should get the same answer no matter which you use, so

y-(-4) = 7(x-4)

y + 4 =7x - 28

y = 7x -32

#5 is the same way find your slope first y2-y1/x2-x1

4-7/1-4 = -3/-3 so m=1

y-1 = 1(x-4)

y -1 =x -4

y=x -3

Sarah’s Flower Designs is a fledgling, home-based business in Madison, Wisconsin, consisting of three employees. Sarah, the owner, handles all of the floral arrangements. Her assistant, Mark, handles the purchasing of flowers, related materials, and takes telephone and walk-in orders from customers. Mark also keeps the financial and client records in order. Kim is the delivery driver and makes local deliveries to homes and businesses.

Sarah’s Flower Designs is looking to upgrade its computer system (an older model PC) to help keep up with the growing demand of their customers. They would like to house their client information and order histories on their new system, as well as bill their customers electronically. They also want Kim to have a way to keep track of customer addresses and specific delivery instructions while she is on the road. What IT recommendations would you make for Sarah’s Flower Designs?

I suggest you use a tracking system. Write down everyone actions.

1 Find the slope and y-intercept for the graph of the equation: 4x - 2y = 24

2 Find the slope and y-intercept for the graph of the equation: 12x - 4y = 96.

3 Find the slope and y-intercept for the graph of the equation: 9x - 3y = 81.

4 For banquets, Flourishing Flowers charges $60 for each standard floral arrangement plus a one time $125 fee for delivery and set up. Write an equation in slope-intercept form that shows the cost y for flowers for x number of arrangements.

1 x = 60y + 125

2 y = 60x + 125

3 y = 125x + 60

4 x = 125y + 60

Mor math help?
The equation to find slope and the y-intercept is y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

4x - 2y = 24

-2y = -4x + 24

y = 2x - 12

m= 2

y-intercept = -12

12x - 4y = 96

-4y = -12x + 96

y = 3x - 24

m= 3

y-intercept = -24

9x - 3y = 81

-3y = -9x + 81

y = 3x - 27

m = 3

y-intercept = -27

flowers: $60x

one time fee: $125

y = $60x + $125
Reply:The equation for finding the slope and y-intercept is:

y = mx + b

where m is the slope

and b is the y-intercept.

Put your problems in this form and you will be able to determine the slope and y-intercept.

This is obviously project work, so really you should be able to do it yourself. If you can't, then you are working at the wrong level, and should go down one till you feel competent to achieve this level without help.

I feel bad - The door bell rang and it was a delivery man for a florist shop?

My wife's best friend sent her a floral arrangement for Christmas - thanking her for her friendship and wishing her the merriest of all holidays.

My said to me, see, other people send me flowers.

I feel bad - The door bell rang and it was a delivery man for a florist shop?
and most wifes give their hubby sex to..so whats her point.....

maybe if you were treated differently..she would be =]

Im harsh tonight huh lol
Reply:What is the question?
Reply:I sure wouldn't send flowers. I would be mad, because I would feel like you did it because someone else did and you used their idea.

Use your own idea and make it good and show her your love too and supper bug hugs and kisses and tell her how much you love her.====
Reply:that burns
Reply:You're not going to win with her, no matter what you do.
Reply:learn from your mistakes.

alot of us like them for no reason at all. just random surprises of love, and we love it when you send em to our work!
Reply:Wait. Aren't you the guy with the gloves and warm-up suit?

Buddy....where'd you manage to pick this broad up? She's sounds like she's a lot more trouble than she's worth.
Reply:You have some serious butt kissing to do. Pucker up!
Reply:Well it could have been worse. You could have accused her of having some flowers from another bloke.
Reply:Maybe if men realized how much a tiny bit of consideration once in a while could have a positive effect on relationships they would make an effort....sometimes it takes a slap in the face to wake them up. I think you just had yours.

It is almost New Years, why don't you make a resolution to pay attention to small things you could do to make your wife feel cared for. You can't send her flowers tomorrow, cause she will know you did it out of guilt, but what about doing so in March, or June? Look around for other ways to tell her you love her, especially when it isn't a special occasion. It will mean a lot to her.

You guys could get anything you want if you just played your cards right.
Reply:Send her flowers in a couple weeks at work or something and just make it a point to do nice stuff for her more often.
Reply:Sounds like your wife needs to learn that there is a lot more to a marriage than flowers and presents. I hope she's a better woman than what you've described her as. Cause so far, she seems like a very materialistic and ungrateful person.
Reply:Oh my-of course now you can't go right out and buy some-wait until Valentines Day and do it right!
Reply:Well she must be right. Women are aways right! At least that's what my girlfriend always tells me. lol
Reply:send your wife flowers
Reply:I feel bad for the delivery guy working today, and not with his family.
Reply:forget about it.. valentines day is coming up.. send her some then.. and send it to her job
Reply:Wow... That must have been a slap on the face... Well, I think your best option is to be spontaneously romantic. This is your chance to shine! Create something special! Make her feel like she's all you need for Christmas and all the materialistic things dont matter when your with her. Good Luck! Merry Christmas!!!!!
Reply:surprise her with something betterthan flowers. or you could add the flowers to the surprise.
Reply:go out and get her better and a lot more flowers and be like see i get flowers for the best girl ever too (: !!!!!!
Reply:Now you have to make plans and fast. First, make a reservation at the finest restaurant for dinner and dancing. After which take her back home, leaving 1 flower and say but I am the one who loves you.
Reply:Dude.why waste tiime here; send her some damn flowers! Sheesh!
Reply:Your wife probably asked her friend to send her flowers to try to make a point. If she tells you she likes something, do it, regardless of whether you think it's stupid!

Send her flowers, d@mmit!
Reply:She's too needy. Flowers are flowers. My dad hardly ever gets my mom flowers, maybe once every couple of years. Most men don't buy flowers, but some men love to do those sorts of things. Don't buy her flowers just bc she said that to you. She's trying to make you feel bad (which she obviously did) so you send her some. Forget it. Do something else more special instead of flowers. It's not all about the material things you know.
Reply:SURPRISE HER THEN
Reply:haha! well then surprise her with flowers more often.
Reply:OUCH
Reply:Just don't send her right now because she would know that you are only doing it because she said that. Wait about a month and send her flowers at her job with an invitation to dinner. That should get you off the hook for a little while. In the mean time hope you got her a really nice Xmas present.

The flower business??

well, i got a job interview with a floral business. the job is for a delivery driver. my question is simple...if i get the job will they let me go after valentines day? are they only hiring me because they need someone for a month or so?

The flower business??
sound like it. See if they already have a driver. Usually flower shopps (small flower shopps) have the very very very most 2 drivers. If they already have one chances are yes they are going to let you go.
Reply:The floral business dies off after Valentines day and doesn't pick up heavily again until Mother's Day. When you go for the interview....simply ask. If they are advertising for a driver, most likely they need a full time, permanent driver.

She needs to consult an IT person to build her a kind of software to process the business as she wishes!! the software will facilitates the work by allowing clients to process their order on line. She will not need to stay on the phone for orders as everything will performed by the software!!

Good luck

I broke up with a boyfriend and recently he sent me a floral arrangement.I?

refused the delivery so they were sent back to him was I wrong?, I mean we are over..and I am trying to move on..he sent the flowers so was I wrong? ( I added info to my original question)

thanks to all!

I broke up with a boyfriend and recently he sent me a floral arrangement.I?
LOL! You did the right thing. I find this funny because my boyfriend told me that before we got together (which was after valentine's day last year), he gave his ex a dozen roses on v-day, even though she dropped his *** like a bad habit! lol i found it to be a little desperate, but yea, your question was relavent to that story so i wanted to reply. you did the right on thing sista

What do you think of this?

My next door neighbor refused to accept a floral delivery when I was not home.The floral company had asked her to hold it and they would inform me through a note on my door that it was over there.

What do you think of this?
Why not? What a weirdo! That's ridiculous. Merry Christmas to the old scrooge next door.
Reply:OK she has a right to do so. We used to take in an odd parcel for a neighbour we had had a row with and we were not talking.Their daughter used o take it from me. In fairness they did the same for us. it part of being a goodnneighbour under all circumstances
Reply:After being such a good neighbour to her by cutting her grass, I would now go and shi~ on her doorstep miserable old cow.
Reply:That's her right! She didn't want the responsibility. Have you ever taken anything in for her?
Reply:That's messed up! I would've been pissed!!!
Reply:Mmmm maybe she was having a bad day? maybe she does not like you, maybe she is sad the flowers were not for her...don't be too quick to judge her, you don't now the circumstances of her refusal.

Just be glad someone loves you enough to send you flowers-enjoy and have a happy Christmas..
Reply:It could be that she's allergic to flowers.

Maybe she has pets, and was afraid they might try to eat the flowers.

Maybe she had plans to go out later tonight, and was afraid that she wouldn't be home when you came over to pick up the flowers.

Maybe her house is a giant pig-sty, and she's afraid of you coming in and seeing the disgusting mess.

Or maybe she's just pure evil.
Reply:Why don't you ask her nicely now, if she would accept such delivery the next time, and thank her in advance for doing so. Let her know she would not be obligated to do anything with the delivery, such as put them in water.
Reply:Well some people do not want the responsibility of keeping someone Else's delivery. Could be if something happened that you would get mad at her. ( not saying you would).
Reply:She probably meant no harm she just did not want the responsibility in case anything went wrong.Is she elderly? this would explain it.
Reply:That's a bit rude isn't it. It wouldn't have taken any time or cost her anything. Disappointing...
Reply:misserable old fart----probably take her off your xmas card list
Reply:I think you should not have neighbors like that. Don't lend her any sugar when she runs out.
Reply:The miserable old cow. If I were you, I wouldn't bother being overly nice to her again.
Reply:Nice neighbour you have....NOT.

Poll: For ladies only. No men please.?

This question is about floral deliveries. I deliver flowers for a living. One of my duties is dilivering flowers to funeral homes. I will say this, every funeral home I deliver too has a room for flower deliveries for funerals that also doubles as a place where they place the decease until cremation and/or services. They are usually nude and covered with a sheet over them. I have seen many other delivery men from other flower shops sneek a peek at the female deseased bodies. So here is the poll. Have you ever worried about how you will be judged by floral delivery men after you are deceased?

Poll: For ladies only. No men please.?
i'll be dead so who cares? lol

good question tho.
Reply:Seriously, you are a complete moron. Report It

Reply:Funeral directors are sick and morbid? This coming from the person who looks at dead female bodies? Please, you are such a retard. Report It

Reply:I am calling your bluff. Under no circumstances would any funeral home actually have the flowers delivered to the place where they also keep human remains. You are lying when you said every funeral home has a room that doubles as both a floral room and a prep room. Please, that is just ludacis and I hope no one actually believes this public display of stupidity.

Lastly, not only are the rooms where the bodies are kept under lock and key, under no circumstances are any unauthorized personnel allowed near the bodies in the prep room.

Nice try, though.
Reply:If I am dead then I really won't care, will I?

Besides, they are lucky if they get the chance to see me!
Reply:Something tells me I won't care too much.
Reply:No, once a person is dead- they have No more cares.
Reply:Um nope, won't care nor matter to me.
Reply:never thought of it
Reply:no. i plan to be cremated.

Do you tip someone who delivers you flowers?

I was reading an article on tipping and it said to tip a floral delivery person a few dollars. I've never done that. I might not have any cash on hand. Since it's an unexpected delivery and I wasn't the one who ordered them, why would I be expected to tip?

Do you tip someone who delivers you flowers?
I've never heard of tipping a flower delivery person, and I've worked in florist shops before, too.

I also work for a pizza chain, and you DO tip them.

But flowers? Generally NO.

Usually when flowers are delivered, they are delivered as a GIFT to the recipient from someone else. RARELY are flowers DELIVERED to the person who ORDERED them. As such, any "tip" is the onus of the PURCHASER, not the RECIPIENT. How would YOU like to get a gift and then have the person who GAVE you the gift expect a TIP for giving it to you? Same reasoning.

With Pizza delivery people, the people who are receiving the pizzas are generally the ones who ORDERED them, and thus, the tip is on the ORERERS.

Let's switch things around a bit.... A dear friend of yours calls the local Pizza place and says, "My friend, Mary is really SICK today, and I'd like to have a PIZZA delivered to her so she doesn't have to COOK tonight." So, she orders the pizza, gives the delivery instructions, and gives her credit card info to pay for it. Now... do you REALLY think that YOU (being "Mary") should tip the pizza delivery person when YOU didn't ORDER the pizza? It should be your dear friend who, on the phone giving the delivery/payment information that says, "Oh, and please add a $2 tip for the driver when you charge my card!"... RIGHT???

So... generally speaking, flower delivery people are not tipped for this reason.

Have a polite day.
Reply:Yes. You HAVE to tip the florist delivery man. I'm a teen and worked in a florist for 2 years and got paid $5 per hour. We walk to deliver (30 minutes at times) and I really get upset when people don't even tip. You should tip at least a dollar at least. Report It

Reply:depending on the deliverer of the flowers, i usually tip pizza deliver boys who are friendly, always say enjoy your dinner and apologizes even though he;s on time...

and depend on how clean they look, nails and hair, must be free of grase and dirt!
Reply:No, there was a delivey fee added to the bill of the person who sent them.
Reply:If you feel funny give them a buck, if not no worries, unless you get flowers everyday.
Reply:Most places include the tip with the price. So Unless you live in the middle of no where, don't tip.
Reply:You don't need to tip to a flower delivery person, because his/her wage is included in the delivery fee, which is already paid by the person who ordered it. Food delivery guys are different, because their wages depend on the tips, just like waiters/waitresses.

With that said, if you received a flower during a snow storm and the delivery person looked like half-frozen, any tip would be greatly appreciated. :-)
Reply:Naah. ya probly paid them enuf.
Reply:cause it is the right thing to do. only tip 1 dollar or something. it doesn't have to be a lot.
Reply:No. I wouldnt. Chances are they probably charge a ton for the flowers anyway.

Floral delivery!?

Does anyone do this for a living? Do you like it? How much do you get paid? Is it very phsyically demanding?

Floral delivery!?
Delivery is always stressful and challenging, but rewarding. Somebody has to do it...

Do Floral / Florist Delivery people get tips from the person they deliver to? What is the usual tip?

I have never heard of tipping a flower delivery person. Especially, since someone is sending you the flowers as a gift. However, I did research it and found the following website that shows suggested amounts of tips to be given in a variety of situations such as flower deliveries. Its a neat website- check it out. It suggest $2-$5 for a flower tip.

I've never heard of tipping a delivery person. The florist charges the person placing the order a delivery fee, and the driver gets a salary. A few dollars might be a nice gesture, now that you mention it.
Reply:I have been a delivery person for a florist, and tips are not very common. Occasionally, someone has tipped me maybe 1 or 2 dollars, but I always thought that it should not be expected of someone receiving what is usually a gift, and I did feel a little uncomfortable accepting a tip at those times.

Help For Floral Delivery Company Please?

I would like some help on how to deliver flowers on bikes. We have a £100 budget to work with (we already have the bikes.). Could you please give suggestions on whether we should use panniers or bags to carry the flowers. Also, could you give us general suggestions on how we could expand and advice for people who have experience in the field.

firstly start of using a basket of reasonable sixe you can also buy trailers for the back that can have a open area or closed area once you start getting a steady income rent a van you can get really good deals and so on just build up gradually to what you can afford
Reply:Before choosing the method of carriage, consider your target market, their location and the types of flowers they will order. It maybe good to limit their choices. Then think about the most suitable container that can be easily carried, protects the flowers and keeps them fresh. You do not want them to wilt on a hot day. A possibility is a specially constructed tube, may be more expensive than your budget, however this could present opportunities for display, marketing, passing cost through to the client. In regards to expansion think about who you could talk to from your local business groups and consider franchising in the future.
Reply:Will you be able to buy a pannier.Have you tried making a big basket or get a large cardboard box reinforce it %26amp; attach to bike.Flowers are big buisness I prefer flowers in a basket has they need no mucking on with.You will have to try %26amp; find out what local florists are charging %26amp; under cut them.You are going into cut throat buisness %26amp; i wish you good luck %26amp; fortune.

How much are you supposed to tip a floral delivery agent? What if you don't even want the flowers?

I recently had this happen to me. I was being stalked and I did not want to accept flowers from some creepy weirdo. But I appreciate customer service and I did not think it was fair for the delivery guy not to be tipped.. and yet I wasn't sure whether to tip at all? Help..

How much are you supposed to tip a floral delivery agent? What if you don't even want the flowers?
Since you did not request the service, you are not required to tip. The actual patron tips. And it is perfectly acceptable to refuse delivery of the flowers, it will hopefully get the message across a lot quicker.
Reply:you tip 10% and ask him to return them as refused. think of the 10% as a message service
Reply:I would think in this situation, a tip would not be expected. If it is a service you had specifically asked for, then a tip may be appropriate. Since you were not the one ordering the flowers any tip should be the responsibility of the ordering party.

Just FYI- I've never tipped a flower delivery person, UPS driver, etc.
Reply:giving a tip is your choice...

they are paid to deliver flowers anyways...
Reply:Good services today are very much taken for granted. Tipping the flower guy is alright. $1 or 2 Dollars is fair and not enough people do it. I also tip my grocery bagger and anyone else that provides excellent service for me. Service jobs in general get paid miserable but they are SO important to have.

I give my mailman $10 for xmas

I allways prefer giving someone in the service industry before handing it to some bum on the street

Which website is the BEST prices for floral deliveries??

I wouldnt order online. Im a former FTD master florist (well I guess I still am). When you order online they will send it to a local florist but they take 20% of the price. If you find a local florist you will get a better deal. They are suppose to be exactly the same but they are not.

I suggest looking up floral shops in the city you want to send it too and ask them a few questions. Order them directly, it will be better.
